Saving the rainforest with Old Cell Phone

Saving the rain-forest with Old Cell Phone

Forest is best place in the world.Forests is help to all world.Forest is very beautiful place and their are very fresh environment is helpful all human beings .

But some people not care about the environment .He cut the forest ,cut the trees .Because of this our global warming is increase but this not understand the people. He always cut the trees.

But it will be stop.Because of the  TOPHER WHITE man .

Topher White
After a visit to rainforests of Borneo, physicist and engineer Topher White was struck by the sounds of the forest. In particular , the noises he couldn't hear.
While on a walk, White and others came across an illegal logger sawing down a tree just a few hundred meters away from a ranger station.

This incident set White thinking that perhaps the best way to save the Earth’s precious rainforest is to listen to its loggers and poachers. The innovation he came up with, Rainforest Connection, uses old cell phones to help to save the planet in a big way.
Using cell phones is, in a certain sense, relatively low-tech, but the way I like to think about it is it’s a very high-end system using very low-end technology on the ground. There’s pretty good cell phone service in a lot of these areas in the periphery of the forest, which is what’s under threat. As we get better at this with better software and better antennas, we’re able to pick up things up to 20 kilometers away from the nearest cell tower which allows us to go pretty deep into the forest. There’s a few things about the way we design our system that are pretty intense and different than how people have built similar systems in the past, but overall yes, I completely agree that this is a low-tech system on the surface. That’s because we try to build low-tech hardware and very high-tech software
